Volunteer at the Washington Buddhist Vihara

We Are Seeking a Lead Volunteer Coordinator

The renovation project at the Washington Buddhist Vihara (affectionately known as the Vihara) requires dedicated, consistent leadership. The monks who call the Vihara home are unable to manage contractor meetings and day-to-day project oversight on their own. We need someone to step into this vital role.

This is a meaningful opportunity to serve a beloved DC institution and leave a lasting mark on a place of peace and community for generations to come.

What the Lead Coordinator Does

No construction expertise required. We are looking for someone reliable, organized, and genuinely caring — someone who can learn on the job and represent the Vihara with grace and warmth.

General Volunteers Also Needed

Beyond the Lead Coordinator, we welcome all volunteers who can offer their time in any capacity — helping with contractor visits, assisting with logistics, donating items from our wishlist, or simply showing up when needed.

No commitment is too small. If you care about this community and have even a few hours to spare, we want to hear from you.

Ready to Help?

Send us an email to express your interest. Please include a brief note about yourself, your availability, and how you'd like to contribute. All applicants for the Lead Coordinator role will be contacted for an interview.
